This quirky home is ideally located to explore this beautiful part of the Pas de Calais, just a little over an hour from the port of Calais itself.
Marconne is at walking distance (5 to10 minutes) from the small town of Hesdin, with shops and restaurants.
The castle is situated in it's own two hectare park, including a lake with island, which makes Chateau Marconne a perfect place to relax and watch the ducks.
Wow!... is usually the first word uttered when stepping into the Chateau Gite. The main hall is stunning with its 6m high beamed ceiling, imposing staircase and gallery and not forgetting the somewhat eclectic décor! This is a sitting and dining area; on the gallery there is a banqueting table and leading from that is the Library room, which features comfy chairs and sofas and the television.
From the main hall on the ground floor there is a downstairs cloakroom, with a loo and plenty of space to hang coats and store shoes. The kitchen, refurbished in 2016, is made up of three parts; the cooking area, the scullery and the china store. A five burner range with huge oven makes cooking for ten a doddle – assuming you’re not going out to one of the many good restaurants in town!
From the kitchen is the games room with a pool table, indoor and outdoor games and whole load of tourist information. Beyond there is a laundry room.
43 steps up a winding oak staircase takes you from ground floor to the five spacious bedrooms, each with their own bath or shower room. New for 2017 will be tea and coffee making facilities on the landing – saving the trip downstairs and back!
The Chateau Gite occupies the largest part of the chateau. It sleeps up to ten people in five en-suite bedrooms.
It is let on a selfcatered bases, on a weekly bases, from Saturday (as from 16.00 local time) to Saturday (departure at 10.00).
Towels and bedding are included.
Heating is EX-cluded ( but can be booked as an add-on on site)
There are two apartments in the castle. One is 'home' to the guardian. The other is rented out to 1 or 2 people, per week.
On many occasions, all the people staying in the castle gathered round the amp-fire pit, set up on the island in the park.
