Property Description

An ideal retreat for singles or couples looking for a get-away in rural Exmoor. Stable Cottage is a single storey property sleeping up to 2 guests in one double bedroom. All village amenities are within walking distance.

Stable Cottage has recently been refurbished throughout, and you will undoubtedly notice the thought and time that has gone into making this cottage a welcoming and cosy retreat, for anyone looking to escape to the country for some relaxation. The location of Stable Cottage presents excellent opportunities to walk or cycle, whether you choose the open slopes of the moor towards Dunkery Beacon, or wooded Avill valley below, famous for its snowdrops. From the cottage there is direct access onto footpaths to Dunkery, Snowdrop Valley and many other routes.

As the name suggests, Stable Cottage was once part of the stables for the nearby Farmhouse. It was converted into living accommodation some years ago, and has recently been refurbished throughout, including all new appliances, furniture and wood burner.

The spacious entrance porch has plenty of hooks, ideal for storing muddy boots and hanging coats. The three main rooms are all off the hallway, the open plan living room with kitchen to the left, bedroom to the right, and shower room in the middle.

You are welcome to bring your dog by prior arrangement (1 maximum due to the size of the property). A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice. Please do not allow you dogs on the furniture, or into the bedroom and do not leave them alone in the property at any time.

Kitchen appliances include fridge (with freezer compartment), microwave, and electric oven with hob. Plus toaster, kettle, cafetiere, a variety of cookware, saucepans, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses.
The living room has a television (with Freeview). A hairdryers is also provided for your convenience.
Wifi is not currently available in the property. Mobile phone signal can be patchy in rural Exmoor, however EE (Orange) has a good signal. An EE phone is provided in the cottage to ensure you can make emergency calls if necessary.

Bed linen, duvets, and towels (including tea towels) are provided, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips.

Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of the accommodation. There is a small wood-burner in the living room, which will top up the heat in the cooler evenings and keep you nice and cosy. A basket of logs, kindling and matches will be provided. The property is also fitted with central heating throughout, which can be adjusted to your preferences.

Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits will be in the property for your arrival to welcome you and enable you to have a hot drink when you arrive.
Other non-perishable items such as salt, pepper and oil will be provided.
Cleaning materials such as washing-up liquid and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided per toilet.

There is a bench just outside the property in the private garden area and there is a small lawn beside the drive, to the front of the property. The garden is partially enclosed, although a dog could easily find a way out if they wanted to.

This property is strictly non-smoking.

Stable Cottage is within walking distance of Wheddon Cross (approx 0.25 mile via footpath), a thriving rural community. Here you will find a well-stocked mini-supermarket, Post Office facilities and petrol station with good opening times. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is dog friendly. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 10 miles away. Here you will find larger supermarkets with petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.

Stable Cottage is available for week-long bookings and short breaks, changeover days are Mondays and Fridays. The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.
